yabbies

It is believed that most wavekin living in Loch Seld arrived with the Calamity of Water, after the Fifth Astral Era, and so too with yabbies. The massive crustaceans bear a resemblance to lobsters, and are found in deep places of the ocean as well as on the land in Gyr Abania. (1)

The yabby boasts an incredibly hard shell upon its back, but underneath, it is not so well armored. (1) They are also apparently not immune to being stuffed into hempen sacks when subdued. (2)

Known species/types of yabbies:

- Amikiri

kiwa

Kiwa is, simply put, a yabby that has grown significantly larger than its close kin. Allegedly, it was named for some figure of myth from the South Sea Isles--a "god of crustaceans"--but this has yet to be verified. Natheless, Clan Centurio would like to see it slain. (3)

(3) NPC Dialogue: Hruodland

Habitat:
- The Lochs, various

Combat Rating: 70, B Rank

Special notes: Like most yabbies, Kiwa uses its foreclaws to defend itself in a pattern known as "Shuck". However, its power manifests differently based on which claw it uses to strike. A forehand strike with its right claw is but a normal bludgeoning attack, but if it rears up with a backhand strike with its left, it will also tear the victim's flesh and cause it to bleed profusely.

yabby

The common yabby is an irritable creature that dislikes other creatures entering its domain. However, the Ala Mhigan Resistance has found use for its vile temper, in capturing the wavekin for combat training. It is said that stuffing the subdued creatures into hempen sacks is the preferred method of transport, but that may also be the Warrior of Light's peculiar methodology. (2)
