Ninki Nankas

The shallows-dwelling ninki nanka is quite the family man. While many wavekin lay their eggs in still waters and then leave the young to fend for themselves, the male ninki nanka instead keeps his own close; the females of the species lay their eggs on their mates' backs, and while they gallivant away to get on with their lives, the males keep and raise the little ones. Thus, you can tell the males by the large bulbous "growths" on their backs. (1)

Nanka flesh is not considered edible by most, given its powerful odor of ammonia, but the Gnath crave it. (1)

loch nanka

The Loch nanka generally keeps its home on the northeast banks of Loch Seld, but the times do change. With an incursion of chelones taking the place from them, they have chosen instead to move west. Unfortunately, that plot of land is currently occupied by fishermen. (2)

Clan Centurio occasionally issues bounties on these wavekin. (3)

Habitat:
- The Lochs, Loch Seld

Combat Rating: 69

Special note: The loch nanka will typically use the abilities common to its kin. A stagnant spray of water to the enemies before it is oft enough to drive them away, and failing that, it emits a Peculiar Light that heightens the enemy's weakness to magical attacks.

Seven-spot nanka

Seven-spot nankas will range quite far in quest of food, which is odd, considering they are not terribly choosy. Indeed, they are known to waylay innocent tame chocobos south of Tailfeather, and thus, the hunters are most urgent to have their precious cloudkin brought home when one wanders from his pen. (4)

Seven-spot ninki nanka

The seven-spot nankas' farflung quest for prey makes less sense than that of their mates', who carry their families with them. With so many mouths soon to feed, one cannot well blame them for their ramblings--but that does not mean one should let them have the poor lost chocobos they crave. (4)
