MANTICORES

Few beastkin are as mighty, or as terrible, as the manticore. Carnivorous and merciless, these creatures are known to fall upon even their own offspring if hunger drives them cruelly enough. (1)

Fortunately, the few manticores that exist tend to dwell in the mountain heights and in deep, dark caves. However, if provoked enough--or hungry enough--they will descend upon the realms of Man with a bloodthirst that is seldom slaked save by their own demise...which is no mean feat.(1)

Known species/types of manticores:

- Alpha manticore
- Arena manticore
- Narasimha
- The Garlok

ALPHA MANTICORE

All manticores are terrible and mighty creatures, but few live long enough to become known as "Alpha manticores." Reclusive in the extreme, Alpha manticores are never seen...save when a rare trap might lure one out with a sweet-smelling bait, to attack those seeking treasure. (2)

(2) Alpha manticores only spawn during a treasure hunt for a Peisteskin Map.

Special notes:

Alpha manticores have only been seen when seeking treasures located with a Peisteskin Treasure Map. If you find combat to be challenging, having friends along with you might be prudent.

Habitat: Anywhere

THE GARLOK

The Garlok was long a creature of legend; for generations, tales of its terrible prowess--and hunger--both entertained the children of Bloodshore, and kept them well in line.

However, Master Gegeruju of Costa del Sol became fascinated with the tales, and sent adventurers to find out the truth by prying into its lair. They found it to be true, all right--and now it has abandoned its lair to roam the hills of Eastern La Noscea, and hunters seek to slay it. (3)

It is said that the sound of rain soothes it to an uneasy rest, making it all the harder to find. (4)

The Garlok is said to attack with a peculiar single-mindedness, fixating upon one enemy and ramming with its head. It also makes use of fiery breath, which can leave terrible burns. (5)
