jhammels

Though very like their cousins, the dhalmels, jhammels have not had the benefit of isolation upon the drifting islands of the Sea of Clouds to become quite so distinct. Jhammels are not typically aggressive unless driven to it, though if indeed driven to it, they lay about them with sweeps of their long necks and kicks from their powerful legs. (1)(2)

Jhammel meat is quite gamy, but the culinary habits of Ala Mhigo provide the means to spice their way around that problem. (3)

Simply named, for what confusion can there be for something this unlike its neighboring wildlife? The jhammel spends most of its life topping what trees it can find for supper, and the rest delivering a swift kick to those who trouble it. Not for nothing do the Ala Mhigans have a saying for those whose mettle is concealed by a quiet spirit: "like a woken jhammel". (1)

Its hide is quite durable, and is used by the Resistance for armor. (2)

Special notes:​

The jhammel has two favorite attacks to deploy. One, Whiplash, is a sweeping strike of its neck to all that stand before it; the other, Whistle, increases its strength for a few seconds.
