Gaganas

The massive, aggressive gagana is a typical sight in the wilds of the Fringes, east of the Velodyna River. It is a predatory bird, prone to taking the livestock of Gyr Abanian farmers, and prefers to make its nests in the rocky cliffs. (1)

Gaganas are weak to few things, thanks to their durable hides (a favorite material for armor), but they cannot resist shiny objects, even to the point of eating them. (2)(3) Because of their large eggs and lean meat, many have tried to domesticate the gagana, but it seems the ferocious cloudkin are uninterested in a more amicable way of life. (4)

Gagana

Larger than their cousins dwelling on the flats below, the gaganas around Virdjala are far more dangerous, and more willing to use their wings to kick themselves up into the air, better to use their beaks to strike their foes. The huntresses of Vira Nilya tend to find them quite troublesome. (3)

(3) Quest: Hard to Swallow

Habitat: The Fringes, Virdjala

Combat Rating: 67

Special Notes: The larger types of gagana forego the "bladed beak" attack in favor of a leaping plunge known as "Dread Dive". They will still emit their ear-splitting Giga Scream, however.

longneck gagana

It is not quite clear why the longneck gagana is so named, considering that all gagana have long necks. But perhaps these have longer necks--or perhaps the residents of the Fringes just have an odd sense of humor.

Habitat: The Fringes, the Striped Hills (quest only)

Combat Rating: 68

Special Notes: Longneck gaganas only appear during the quest "We Can Never Go Home."
