chapulis

The chapuli is believed not to be a native of Gyr Abania, but to have migrated to the Peaks region since the establishment of the kingdom. Legends tell of a king of Ala Mhigo whose pride offended the very gods, who then unleashed the herbivorous vilekin upon the Peaks, resulting in the land being stripped bare of trees and grass. (1)

On a more agreed-upon matter, the chapuli sports upon its head a tall horn-like structure, which it uses to strip vegetation from plants for consumption. That horn can be used to cause a great deal of harm to a random passerby, particularly when paired with its incredible broadjump. (2)

Known species/types of chapuli:

- Chapuli
- Migratory chapuli

chapuli

The common chapuli dwells mostly in the Last Forest, on the west side of the Peaks. It is not much hunted, save for when its horn is wanted for a pain-killing folk medicine. (3)(4)

(4) Quest: Hard Country

Habitat: The Peaks, the Last Forest

Combat rating: 60

Special notes: The common chapuli uses two methods of attack. Scission is a strike with each of its claws; and using its Sensilla Blades, it pushes back everything that is in front of it.

highwing chapuli

Highwing chapulis dwell in the hills around Ala Ghiri. Somewhat more dangerous than their northern cousins, their powerful legs actually are part of a traditional Ala Ghiri stew. Very lean, they are paired with a spicy broth and become meltingly tender. For some reason, the occupying Garleans forbade the making and eating of the dish. (3)(5)

(3) Mob placement as of 6.55
(5) Quest: A Special Treat

Habitat: The Peaks, Goodblade

Combat rating: 68

Special notes: The highwing chapuli uses two methods of attack. Scission is a strike with each of its claws; and using its Sensilla Blades, it pushes back everything that is in front of it.
